What is the difference between whole, processed, and refinded foods?

A whole food is untouched and remains in it’s natural state. It is therefore most nutrient-dense. Example: picking an apple from the tree. A processed food can be nutrient rich or nutrient depleted. Example: dried fruits. A refined food doesn’t contain all nutrients anymore because it has been altered from it’s original state. It has the least amount of nutrient density. Example: white flour.

 

Why is it unadvisable to drink with a meal?

Drinking water with a meal dilutes the digestive juices and therefore halts digestion. For best digestion and nutrient absorption drink 20 minutes before a meal and 2 hours after a meal.

What are nutrients-dense foods?

Foods that are nutrient-dense or nutrient rich are highly concentrated with vital nutrients, like vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, and more.

How much water should one drink in a day?

It’s best to drink 1/3 to 1/2 of  your body weight in fluid ounces. Filtered water and herbal teas are great for hydration.

It best to use glass, stone, and stainless steel. Avoid using the microwave.
